St Martin's Cahmber Music Competition

St Martin's Cahmber Music Competition

The famous London church and concert venue, St Martin in the Fields is once again running its annual Chamber Music Competition. Run in association with Making Music, the competition awards an outstanding young ensemble the opportunity to establish and develop a performance profile throughout the UK.

Founded in 2010, the competition focuses on nurturing the fledgling careers of the UK's most talented and hard-working young musicians. The prize is a series of professional engagements around Britain, offering professional exposure to the winners.

The inaugural winners, the Piatti Quartet gave over 16 concerts as a result of their prize earning over 13,500 in fees and gaining the benefits of experience and industry contacts which in turn lead to their Wigmore Hall debut in London in 2011.

You can read more about the previous winners on the Making Music Website.

How to enter

There are three rounds to the competition. The preliminary round is a CD audition, judged anonymously by a screening panel. The panel will then select two entrants for each of the three free Semi-Final concerts held in March.

The winners of the Semi-Finals will then come together for the ticketed Final on Tuesday 19 March at 7.00pm. The finalists will each perform a programme of around 25 minutes' duration in front of a panel of expert judges.

The deadline for getting your entries in is Friday 1 February 2013, so you've got time yet to perfect your piece.

Sounds like a great opportunity for an aspiring ensemble! For full details of the competition and to download an entry form, check out the St Martin's Chamber Music Competition website.
