Family Music at the CBSO

Composer is Dead
Coming up in February at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) are 2 great events that the whole family can enjoy - whatever your age. What's better is that we've got a family ticket for 4 people to give away to 1 of these events to a lucky winner!
CBSO Family Concert: The Composer is Dead by Lemony Snicket and Nathaniel Stookey
First up, on Sunday 5 February at 3pm there's what promises to be an entertaining and quirky introduction to the orchestra with words from acclaimed children's author Lemony Snicket and music by Nathaniel Stookey.
The premise is that a composer has been found dead and all of the musicians are suspects. But who is the culprit...? All will become clear at the concert!
Before the UK premiere of this piece there will be a whistle-stop introduction of the Orchestra led by violinist Catherine Arlidge, as well as free craft workshops and music in the foyer from 1.30pm. Sounds like a great afternoon out, don't you think?
The concert will take place at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, and tickets can be purchased directly from the CBSO box office.
CBSO Youth Orchestra: Bartók, Berg and Bruckner
The following weekend, on Sunday 19 February at 7pm, there's a chance to see the CBSO Youth Orchestra in action. They'll be performing a trio of works from Bartók, Berg and Bruckner that are guaranteed to impress. The conductor will be Edward Gardner, and soprano Sarah-Jane Brandon.
The Youth Orchestra features musicians aged 14-21 from across the Midlands and you can find all of the information about how to get involved on the CBSO Youth Orchestra website.
The concert will take place at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, and tickets can be purchased directly from the CBSO box office.
