About Take it away

Take it away is an Arts Council England initiative, designed to help more people get involved in learning and playing music.

Take it away is operated by ArtCo Trading Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary company of Arts Council England, in partnership with Moneyway, our credit provider.

The scheme was first launched in 2007 on an 'open to all' basis. In April 2011, following substantial cuts to our funding, the scheme criteria were changed to focus on providing support for young people aged 18-25 years old only. In October 2011, the scheme was extended to also support parents buying instruments for children under the age of 18
